Which Android device should I use?

We cannot possibly test AvPlan-EFB on every make and model of Android tablet out there, but we have tried a few.

The guide below is not exhaustive, but it is a list of devices that we have been able to evaluate the app on.

  • Samsung:

    • All Galaxy Tab S devices with a GPS (recommended)

    • All Galaxy Tab A devices with a GPS (lower performance)

  • Google

    • All Pixel phones.

  • Other manufactures' devices may work too; typically, the latest models with a GPS and having the a good amount of installed storage capacity may work well. At least 32 GB of storage is recommended. Lenovo tablets may not have a GPS; please check.

It is unlikely that "kid's edition" models from any manufacturer will work well with AvPlan.

Cellular capability is highly recommended if you want to have access to live data while flying, for example.

AvPlan requires Android version 6.0 as a minimum. Older versions are not supported. Android version 10 or newer is highly recommended.

Devices that do not have a built-in GPS will not work well with AvPlan unless you intend to use them for purely planning purposes (i.e. not in flight).
