Common error messages returned by NAIPS:

xsd:location

This issue may appear when you've nominated a SARTIME, but not the place you'll cancel it.

• Scroll to the SARTIME section within Planning > Submit ICAO Flight Plan via NAIPS.

• Tap on the At row. If you have a multi-stage flight plan, a popup should appear offering a selection of your stages. Tap a row to select it, then tap away from the popup to dismiss it.

SARTIME_Location.jpeg

• When you've dismissed the popup, the At row should now be populated with the waypoint code (airfield) and the stage number.

• Tap the Submit button once again.

If that doesn't work, go through the clear times process:

– Tap Edit Mode

- Scroll to the very bottom of your flight plan and tap the "Clear: TIMES" button.

(Not only does this clear the times, it also clears the submitted/not submitted flag within AvPlan's internal database.)

- Tap the Edit Mode button once again to return to normal flight planning mode.

- In the flight plan, re-enter your Estimated Time(s) of Departure (ETD)

- Tap Planning > Submit ICAO Flight Plan via NAIPS and try another submission.

waypoint expected in route

This error may occur when the stage is direct, and NAIPS is expecting a waypoint between your departure and arrival waypoints. Simply add a waypoint somewhere along the route and resubmit.

xsd:acid

The “xsd:acid” error refers to the aircraft ICAO type code within your selected aircraft profile.

• Tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database > [your type] > Basic Performance. Check the second field from the top: ICAO Type Identifier.

If you're not sure what the ICAO code for your aircraft should be, you can use the search function on the ICAO website.

• Also, check the Perf. Category (note that this is your aircraft’s approach speed on final, not its cruise speed) and Wake Turb. Category are all set correctly. NAIPS returns an error when these don’t align with what it expects.

• Tap the back button when you’ve finished editing at least twice – you’ll be prompted to save your changes. Tap Save.

• Then you can re-try your submission.

xsd:atyp

Similar to the previous entry: if ‘xsd:atyp’ is not valid it indicates that an invalid ICAO Type designator has been used (or perhaps has not been defined).

Tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database > [your type] > Basic Performance. Check the second field from the top: ICAO Type Identifier.

If you're not sure what the ICAO code for your aircraft should be, you can use the search function on the ICAO website.

• Tap the back button when you’ve finished editing at least twice – you’ll be prompted to save your changes. Tap Save.

• Then you can re-try your submission.

xsd:opr

The “xsd:opr” error refers to the Company/Owner field within your selected aircraft profile.

• Tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database > [your type] > [your rego]. Under the subheading ICAO Flight Plans, check the field marked Company.

• Edit this field so the company name is all in upper case and contains only letters or numbers, no special characters like hyphens or ampersands, etc.

• Tap the back button ( < symbol in the top-left corner of the window) when you’ve finished editing at least twice – you’ll be prompted to save your changes. Tap Save.

• Then you can re-try your submission.

xsd:acft-col-mark

The “xsd:acft-col-mark” error refers to the Colour field within your selected aircraft profile.

• Tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database > [your type] > [your rego]. Under the subheading ICAO Flight Plans, check the field marked Colour.

• Edit this field so the colour name does not include any extra characters (/ - _ & etc).

• Tap the back button when you’ve finished editing at least twice – you’ll be prompted to save your changes. Tap Save.

• Then you can re-try your submission.

xsd:colour

The “xsd:colour” error refers to the Colour field of the dinghy.

• Tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database > [your type] > [your rego] > Survival Equip > Dinghy Colour.

• Edit this field so the colour name does not include any extra characters (/ - _ & etc).

• Tap the back button when you’ve finished editing three times – you’ll be prompted to save your changes. Tap Save.

• Then you can re-try your submission.

xsd:end

If you see the following error message: "The value 'PTnanHnanM' of element 'xsd:end' is not valid"

It is referring to the endurance for you aircraft.

• Tap Planning > Aircraft Loading/Weight&Balance/Fuel Planning

• Ensure your fuel tanks have enough fuel required for the flight. Check the Margin row in the Fuel Planning table. The figures should be positive and black in colour. If there is not enough fuel, the figures will be negative and red in colour.

Cannot retrieve original version of flight plan for id *XXXXXXXX

(Where *XXXXXXXX is the individual NAIPS system tracking code for your flight plan)

This occurs when AvPlan thinks that the plan has already been submitted and is trying to send an update message to NAIPS, rather than a brand-new flight plan. The plan may have been altered or deleted directly on the NAIPS website.

To clear the Submitted/Not Submitted flag for a flight plan within AvPlan, go through the clear times process:

– Tap the Edit Mode button to enter flight plan Edit Mode

- Scroll to the very bottom of your flight plan and tap the "Clear: TIMES" button.

- Tap the Edit Mode button once again to return to normal flight planning mode.

- In the flight plan, re-enter your Estimated Time(s) of Departure (ETD)

- Tap Planning > Submit ICAO Flight Plan via NAIPS and try another submission.

xsd:rmk

If you are receiving this error, there may be mixed-case text, or there may be an unexpected character in it.

For example, 'VOR-A Approach' would return an error, as it contains lower-case letters and the - in VOR-A.

Remove all unusual characters and only use capital letters, numbers and spaces for the best chance of submission success.

xsd:pob

Persons on board error. This may be due to the POB is set to zero.

Go to Planning > Aircraft Loading/Weight&Balance/Fuel Planning

Tap in the Persons on Board field, and make sure the correct number is present.

‘Unable to Download Weather’ error

The ‘Unable to download Weather‘ messages are usually caused by one of two things:

1. NAIPS login details (usually the password) has changed or is incorrect.

  • Tap Settings > User Settings > NAIPS Details

    • The page should be filled with your details from NAIPS. If it is, go to #2. If not:

  • Delete the dots in the password field, then re-type them and tap the Return key. If the password is correct, the page should fill with your details provided by NAIPS. If not, you will need to log on to the NAIPS website and obtain a new password.

2. Data connection issue. Check that you’re connected to the internet (either via Telstra/Optus or your home WiFi). Open something like the Safari app and visit a page like www.themercury.com.au and see if it loads. If it doesn’t, see what you can do to remedy the data situation. If it does, try re-starting AvPlan itself (see iOS Troubleshooting).

Receiving a different error? This list is by no means exhaustive.
