Required Navigation Performance and Performance Based Navigation respectively.

This is primarily of interest if you are submitting IFR flight plans.

Most of us mere mortals who do not work in an airline start out with no idea what this even means, let alone how to get the required information into a flight plan, but assistance is at hand.

If you are using a modern GNSS unit you will almost certainly want to enable RNP in the Avionics part of your aircraft setup in order to let ATC know that you can use it. Having enabled RNP, you also need to let NAIPS know what kind of performance you and your equipment are capable of.

A full explanation of this is beyond the scope of this article, but there is guidance in the user manual that will probably help, with a reference to the page in the Australian AIP that gives further details.
